Dozens of family and friends came to the Wallis home in Vista to show their love for 'Baby Izaiah' Wallis, who was injured in a crash more than two years ago.
His father, Jacob Wallis, expressed appreciation.
"He's still happy, still smiling, still clapping," he said. "He knows it's his birthday and we've got a lot of family coming by to show support and love."
Izaiah's mother, Lucy Verde, shared that feeling of gratitude.
"We're both very thankful – everyone is – that we still have him here with us," she said. "With everyone's support, everyone's prayers… helping us get through this."
Izaiah was not able to join the others because he has been fighting pneumonia and was not feeling very well. He did smile and clap his hands, though.
On Tuesday, there were several surprises. One was a two-day pass to Disneyland Parks for the entire family from the Honey Bellas and Kristies Foundation.
Then came the big one: Passion 4 K.I.D.S. is within weeks of closing on a home for the Wallis family.
Co-founders Charles and Linda Van Kessler presented the family a card.
"We're so proud of this family… the way they've come along after this awful tragedy," said Charles Van Kessler.
Linda Van Kessler added, "We're going to do an 'extreme makeover' on the house as soon as it closes. We'll have the community rally together to go in there and do all the love and care it needs and they they'll walk into a ready-made home… furniture and everything."
Verde said she and her family are excited.
"Getting our son in another home that's handicapped-accessible... That's great," she said.
The family has one other important event on the horizon. A baby sister for Izaiah is due in a few weeks.
